What we’re about

Hello all,

My name is Daniel Szyper. I have been the organizer of this group since June 2009. I diagnosed myself with Asperger Syndrome in 1997 and had it clinically confirmed in 1998. I started an adult Asperger's Syndrome support group in Phoenix, AZ in 2002 that thrives to this day. In April of 2008 I moved back to NJ after a nine-year absence, and began attending meetings of the Princeton Asperger Syndrome Meetup, which David Boticelli, the previous organizer of this group, had recently started.

Asperger's Syndrome is a form of autism that involves a variety of symptoms that include:

-Difficulty having one-on-one relationships,
-Following a strict schedule,
-A fascination with one topic in particular,
-Taking things literally that should be taken figuratively,
-Hypersensitivity to loud noises and odors,
-Inability to show facial expressions and body language,
just to name a few.

Please keep in mind that I am not a mental health professional and I cannot diagnose anyone. But if you have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, think you may have AS or know someone who has AS, I invite you to join this group. We meet twice a month and can discuss the symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome, whether or not you or someone you know has been diagnosed with it or may have it, discuss personal experiences and possible treatments. I hope with this group, members can gain a better understanding of this disorder.

Thank you.

Your organizer,

Daniel Szyper
