Ok peeps this looks like loads of fun! So I want to go! Who's with me?? Read all the information below about this FREE event and then tell me if you want to join me I will be posting it in all my groups.....

So plan is get yourself to the park by finding a parking space in town and getting on the shuttle....once at the park make your way to the center gazebo (see photo below) I plan to get there at noon and wait for peeps and find a place somewhere there or near there to set up my chair and "base camp". Look for me, my red chair and my meetup sign. Then I plan to wander about and see what all there is to see and sample some of the food truck items.

Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, perhaps a cap and some bug spray and money to buy food if you plan to eat. Also the $2 for the shuttle from town to the park. This is a really lovely spot though we went there for a candlelight ceremony after sandy. As always check in before going if the weather is iffy and please be courteous with your RSVP's

BBQ Showdown features the best Gourmet BBQ Food Vendors in the area with plenty of retail vendors, exhibitors, workshops and activities. There will be live music on stage all day, with the bands After the Reign, the Mark Miklos Band, Kentucky Rifles, AJ Jansen, and 11:56. The event is emceed by WCTC’s radio host, Bert Baron. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, families, friends and most of all, your appetites!

Shuttle service ($2 round trip per person) will be running all day from NJ Transit Train Station click here for location (http://www.njtransit.com/rg/rg_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainStationLookupFrom&selStation=139&x=49&y=15) and other parking lots in South Amboy. Look for parking signage throughout town. Please note: there is no public parking at the park the day of the event. BBQ Showdown is rain or shine!

About the Food: BBQ Showdown is all about what New Jersey calls barbeque; great foods that are fire grilled and smoked to perfection, with BBQ sauce optional! Look for the crispiest hot dogs with BBQ grilled onions; the smoothest pulled pork sandwiches; BBQ empanadas with chicken and veggies; pizzas with a BBQ twist; mouthwatering cheesesteak and ribs; plus, Hawaiian style shaved ice with flavors like strawberry coconut; red velvet funnel cakes and fresh corn on the cob; and novelty ice creams for the kids!

AJ Jansen:

whose style and voice have been compared to Jewel, Shania Twain, and Stevie Nicks, old influences of her Country and Rock roots and giving them new meaning with her own sound.

Mark Miklos Band: Edison, NJ is the unlikely birthplace of Bluegrass Traditionalist, Mark Miklos whose broad vocal range enchants audiences of all ages, everywhere he performs.

After The Reign: The band originates from New Jersey, where they pull inspiration from for their music. After the Reign released their first album Hillbilly Clubhouse in 2009 second album Almost Famous that included their hit single “Jersey Strong”.
