New Jersey Folk Festival

Details
The theme of the festival this year is Bluegrass music, but there are 3 stages and there is Irish music, various Folk music, a crafts fair, and food vendors. You can bring your own food if you’d like. Parking is free but you have to look for it. This is also Rutgers Day and AG Field Day so they have free buses between the various campuses if you want to venture out to the other venues on the program. There is a big open sided tent that has folding chairs but I bring my own and place it by the main stage right-hand corner facing the stage, near the back of the tent. I could be under the tent or just outside it. I will have a Meetup sign on the back of my chair and will be there at 11 am. At times I will be walking around to check out the other stages, crafts, and food. I won’t always be sitting in the chair but will check the meetup comments or private message me your cell number during the day if anyone wants to find me. In the meantime, place your chair near mine and we’ll find each other. This is an outdoor festival and is rain or shine so prepare for the weather. Sun screen could be a good idea. Festival runs from 11 AM to 6 PM, but depending on the entertainment I could leave a little earlier than that. April 30, 2016: Bluegrass Showcase!
Join us for our 42nd festival event on Saturday, April 30th, 2016, to enjoy our Bluegrass Showcase. There will be live music and dance performances, an astounding array of crafts and food vendors as well as children's activities and heritage demonstrations. The New Jersey Folk Festival is a large-scale, multi-faceted family and educational event that attracts approximately 15,000 to 18,000 people annually. Always held the last Saturday of April on the expansive grounds fronting the Eagleton Institute Woodlawn, at the 191 Ryders Lane, on the corner of George Street and Ryders Lane. The festival runs all day – 10am to 6pm – rain or shine, and is open to the public free of charge.
