Please Bring Cash
Since we are usually a large group it is best to bring cash to pay for dinner. Some restaurants refuse to give us separate checks and get very annoyed with us when we hand them a pile of credit cards. This isn’t excellent customer service but it happens. If everyone has cash it makes splitting the bill MUCH easier. If you were not able to stop at the ATM on the way to dinner and only have your credit card please discuss with the server.
Splitting the Bill
What is most fair is that everyone pays for what they had. We do not split evenly because if someone ordered a tiny salad and water and someone else had steak, appetizers, dessert, and five drinks, the salad eater shouldn’t have to pay for the other person’s food and drinks -- especially since it could be someone they have never met before.
The Math
Keep track of what you ordered. We usually keep a few menus on the table so you can check the price of your food if you want. Add everything you ordered and add 25% to include tax and tip.
$Food + $ Drink + 25% = Amount of money you should pay
If you want to leave a bigger tip, feel free to put in more. (Optional)
This method works very well and a few times we even had exact cash ready for the waiter before the bill even arrived!
