NLCMG spring meetup
Details
Looking forward to another interesting meeting.
We have one talk scheduled already, and one more in the works.
"How Amazon's CDN automatically optimizes end-to-end performance and server utilization"
Marco Slot, formerly a software engineer at Amazon CloudFront, will discuss how Amazon's CDN automatically optimizes end-user performance using Internet latency and real-time utilization measurements. Anycast DNS servers direct clients to a web server with low latency and sufficient capacity and balance the load across servers, while instantly handling server failures.
CloudFront has capabilities beyond static content hosting, as we are exploring with the new startup trosc.
BMC will also tell us a bit about capacity and performance management in their cloud lifecycle management tool (CLM).
We will try a new feature in the agenda, which might become a regular:
"Meetup Question Market!"
We will take turns in a one or two minute pitch of the greatest challenge we are currently working on and what would benefit us most. In the informal part of the meeting we can then exchange our ideas on those.
Be there at five, talks start at half past five.
Food will be served.
Should you need to take public transportation, we can assist you on that. Just drop a note in the comments.
There is a very good bus connection between Schiphol and our office (Boeingavenue 245, Schiphol Rijk). Bus 187 (busstop Tupolevlaan/ Boeingavenue) and 198 (busstop Beechavenue) are departing every – roughly – 10th minute from Schiphol Airport / Plaza.
Bus 187 stops a bit closer by.
In the evening there are regular busses as well but no direct connection with Schiphol. Depending on the number of people I more than happy to organize a taxibus or drop people off.
