Short Sighted Comedy - NNJ Sketch Comedy group

Have you been looking for a sketch comedy group in Northern New Jersey? We have, too! And we were tired of waiting for someone else to create one.

Our plan:
Get together every two weeks to collaborate, pitch ideas, write, and plot when, where, and what we are going to shoot. Then... we shoot and put the resulting videos online! Please note that we do not intend to do live shows, but we won't rule it out as a possibility for the future.

Our goal:
Create a brand that becomes a household name recognizable outside of our own households as a source of funny, quality material. Our influences: Sophisticated to wacky but always with a sense of intelligence, alien or otherwise. Think Monty Python, Futurama, South Park, Kids in the Hall …. If you share similar sensibilities, we want to meet you!

Where:
The meetings will be around the Bloomfield/Montclair area. We are open to meeting in other areas of Northern NJ so if you know of a good space let us know. We have many members in NYC so we need a space close to public transit.

Who we are:
I'm Dennis. My filmmaking partner Bob and I have made short films, commercials, and some sketch scenes. We both act. I'm the tech guy with all the gear and Bob is the writer. Together we are unstoppable. You can most likely slow us down by lying down in the road, but we live in NJ. We're not stopping. Check out BrainSplinter.com to see some of our work.

Gear:
We have a Canon EOS 7D HD-DSLR and a professional shotgun microphone with boompole and wireless lavs. We have a small lighting package, DIY dolly, jib arm, etc. We're serious about our comedy shooting. If you have gear you want to use bring it on. We work well with limited resources, but welcome more tech people to shoot, edit, light, etc.

Money:
We will be collecting $2.00 from everyone per meeting to help cover the cost of the meeting space and the meetup.com organizer fees.

If you are abusive, mean spirited, or can be labeled "does not play well with others" we reserve the right to remove you from the group. Really, this is the last thing we want to do, but there are just some people who can't get along and we don't want to waste time babysitting one disruptive person when everyone's time is at stake.
