Not a question, but a requirement: For membership in our group, you need to have a Meetup Profile Photo of YOU (not the cat, favorite shoes or Eiffel Tower.) Please be sure there is a photo we can see here. Thanks.

I'll do my best.

Please tell us your favorite genre, author, beverage or tell us all three.

Right now, I'm reading Arms and the Man by Bernard Shaw. I love Ray Bradbury, Truman Capote, Oscar Wilde, and Daphne DuMaurier. I really have favorite books rather than favorite authors. I'm in love with The Illustrated Man, The Fountainhead, Rebecca, The Old Man and the Sea, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and The Blind Assassin. I enjoy a good glass of wine, even though I have no idea how to choose a good bottle, pair it with food, or even most of the terms people use to describe it. I also drink vodka tonics and sazeracs.

In your opinion, what does a book group discussion add to your enjoyment of the reading experience?

I become so excited about a book or even a passage in a book, and I want to share it with someone. I read aloud to my husband, and he gives me this glazed over look. I think discussing and sharing favorite parts, upsetting sections, things that were confusing etc make the book more real. Others may understand things differently which only can lead to a better appreciation of the work.

If your Meetup "location" is NOT in the New Orleans area, please explain why you want to join our group. Thanks.

My husband and I just moved to New Orleans in January. I'm originally from Baton Rouge, so I'm not too far from home. I love reading and drinking, so I'm so excited to have found this group!
