I prefer that government tell me what to do not watching Tv and advertising and following unconscious orders. You do not need guns at home if society is more less normal.  Keeping guns at your home is giving opportunity to kill first your family members.  You are judge and executor.

Making any law surrounding someone's personal choices is a restriction of freedom. Government or any societal compact can safely exist if it's purpose is to prevent people from violate other's human rights. (i.e., no killing beating, harming stealing, etc from another human being,).  Other than that, people should be free to choose for themselves whatever the hell they want. I don't believe it's ever the role of government to wave its gun around telling people what to do, threatening violence and incarceration if you don't comply.

Dave,

freedom can be a very vague word and a proper meaning to the event should specified.

Can we live completely free without government? In case of abortion government's law rather help people to be free for their choices.

Government does not force people to use abortion clinics.

Government Law is technically the opposite of freedom.

With my wife working for NAF, I hear more about abortion than anyone would ever care to.  Whether or not women can have abortions does not directly affect me, I won't be having any, any time soon.  Yet, I still take this fight very personally.  As a idealistic social Libertarian (I can explain that if needed, but I am sure you guys get the distinction), I believe in personal freedom above anything else.  For me this isn't just about abortion it's about the government being able to tell us what we can and can't do with our own bodies.  If we give the government the ability to tell us we can't have abortions, we are also giving them the power to tell us when we will have abortions and that opens up more doors that I care to open.  When I was in 7th grade my geography/social studies teacher told us, "Rights give citizens freedom and laws take those freedoms away."  I think this side of the argument is overlooked and needs to be posed to those who would willingly give up the freedom they hold so dear.

"So sure - recruit all the atheists anti-choicers and I'll keep explaining why that position is wrong. That's the way discussion and advocacy works. And I will point out that men consistently saying this issue is unimportant (per Woody's comments) are not helping in recruiting that other little demographic - pro-choice women. Here's to conversation."

And now we can start a philosophy debate what is wrong and what is not?
It is a very good example that atheism is not a sort of political or social agenda, or can qualify what is  good or bad for humanity.  It is "a state of human mind" about bid question and for "sake" of atheism it is not important if you are pro-choice or anti-choice, it is irrelevant.
Atheists can be bad and good people, stupid and smart.
Practically, I  have no position in this matter but I support women right to choice who are affected and must decide. No man, who can not be pregnant, should decided about abortion as well as a woman about other women pregnancy.

Conclusion.  Men can only ask a woman about her pregnancy and accept outcome.
