Make a Motor

This is on ongoing project meetup on Saturdays with a family focus. All makers, adults or kids are welcome. Adult and teen mentors, please email me if you can help.

You do not have to come to all the meetups, if I have the part, you may take the pieces with you and get the additional pieces to finish at home. However, most families makers find that without the meetup to give them a push, they will never actually finish the project because life gets in the way of making at home. That's where getting away to join a group of fellow makers is really fantastic.

Note: We've made this fun project in 3 stages. If you missed the previous meetups, email me letting me know, so I know to bring the rotor and stator stages. We are not all at the same stage.

Each person/family makes their own. Yours will not be exactly like the one in the video since part of the maker process is learning to improve on the design in the instructable. In this case, we've used salvaged magnets, wire, and hardware.

This meetup, we'll finish up the brushes and add power.

The STEM program is powered by parents prepared to empower. Please plan to participate. So far, we've done physics, redesign, problem-solving, learning from mistakes, woodworking, power tools, hammers, wire stripping, magnets, and all kinds of basic maker skills to learn with this fantastic project.
