STEM4Makers: Raspbery Pi Workshop

Details

Introduce your child and yourself to the Raspberry Pi. Join us for a hands-on introduction to the use and configuration of the Raspberry Pi. This class will be the first in a series of classes which introduces coding though use of this inexpensive computer.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/ to find out more.

At only $35 for a fully functioning computer, the low cost of the Pi makes it ideally suited for extending our kids' summer camp learning so they don't lose those new skills. They can continue experimenting with things like Scratch, Python, and Minecraft using this inexpensive platform. Exploring and learning on their own can nurture a passion for coding beyond the introductory classes.

Why the Pi? What is the the value of the Pi in a STEM education? How is the Pi different from an Arduino? How can the Pi feed my child's passion for computer programming/coding? Does it make sense to send my child to coding camp if I do not have an inexpensive way of continuing and advancing the learning at home in a way that does not destroy or usurp the family computer?

Come learn the answer to these questions.

Ages: This workshop makes more send for children who are able to use a computer at a beginner level. Not appropriate for very young kids. As always, adults, with or without kids, are welcome to STEM4Maker events because "beginner" is not an age, it is a stage.

Raspberry Pi's and the lesson is being provided by Dexter Industries. Thus, we are able to keep the cost really, really low. Proceeds donated to Nova Labs. Yeah!
