Details

Updated: One of our speakers had to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances. Not to worry, I am pleased to announce that Tim Callaghan the VP/Engineering of Tokutek (http://www.totutek.com) has volunteered to more than ably fill in. We are very excited to have him.

Agenda:

7:00 - 7:30 Beer, Food and Socializing 7:30 - 8:30 Fractal Tree Indexes - Theoretical Overview and Customer Use Cases Most databases employ B-trees to achieve a good tradeoff between the ability to update data quickly and to search it quickly. It turns out that B-trees are far from the optimum in this tradeoff space. This led to the development at MIT, Rutgers and Stony Brook of Fractal Tree® indexes. Fractal Tree indexes improve MySQL® scalability and query performance by allowing greater insertion rates, supporting rich indexing, and offering efficient compression. They can also eliminate operational headaches such as dumps/reloads, inflexible schema, and partitions.Tim will give an overview on how Fractal Tree indexes work, and then get into some specific product features, benchmarks, and customer use cases that show where people have deployed Fractal Tree indexes via the TokuDB® storage engine.

8:30 - 8:40 Break 8:40 - 9:00 MySQL Resources (The Best of)
Mike DelNegro of AOL (Operations Architect) will be giving a brief talk about the finest MySQL resources out on the web and beyond. The most helpful sites, presentations, blogs, sources, books, etc gathered in one presentation complete with all of the links.

9:00 - 9:30 General networking, etc. AOL will again provide the venue, food and drinks. Hope to see you there!

We will be giving away a couple MySQL books. Thanks to Accelebrate ( https://www.meetup.com/NOVA-MySQL/sponsors/ ) for sponsoring this!
