Side projects

I'm sure you fill all your free time coding, but sometimes it's hard to move past the prototype to a presentable product. There are a lot of tools (not necessarily Python related) that can really help push your hobby into the real world.

So come show off what you're doing, and how you do it! Look for some advice on keeping your momentum. Maybe even get some ideas on how to get a release out.

As per usual with new ideas, I'll show off some of my embarrassing code and where/why I cut some corners. I'll also tell you what I've found to be important and unimportant at one of the projects I have that actually took off.

Hope to see you there!

I mentioned Monday's DC ACM talk by Dr. Vint Cerf (the Father of the Internet) - here's the link for it: DC ACM is on Meetup as well -- the lectures are free and open to non-ACM members.

I enjoyed meeting folks new to NOVA-Python and learning about different tools and approaches to problems. It was a relaxed, informal get-together. BTW - here's the link to the Python Challenge site I mentioned: It's "The Python Challenge", not PyChallenge. The site provides coding challenges that allow you to practice solving problems with Python and seeing how others coded their solutions. It also exposes you to other areas of Python you might not see in a work situation (e.g., image and audio processing).
