I've written a couple of dozen songs completely, but not all are worth sharing. The biggest challenge for me is completing the song once I've found the melody, core ideas, and usually a chorus and verse. My goal for this year to see that I finish the songs I start. They may not all be keepers but they aren't really anything until they're finished. In the near term I would like to get songs nicely recorded, and am looking forward to learning about home recording.
My music is acoustic-guitar oriented and influenced lately bluegrass, Americana of various sorts, folk, and a little bit of blues. Sometimes I'm playing fingerstyle and other times flatpicking.
Favorite singers and songwriters include Tim O'Brien (who's also an incredible musician), Lyle Lovett, Darrell Scott, Harley Allen, Gillian Welch, Paul Simon and then the 70's-era singer-songwriters like Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, and Harry Chapin. And I've always loved what Sting does even if my songwriting has nothing to do with it.
Singer and songwriter-in-training. Playing guitar, a bit of piano and mandolin, and enjoying most styles of music. From Georgia and various points south of DC, but being raised in Burke by two boys and a wonderful wife.
