Women Unite!

We plan to have regular social gatherings, so you can make friends, enjoy uninhibited feminist conversation, and most importantly casually discover issues you share as women in NYC and the ways that we might solve them. We hope these purely social gatherings will foster camaraderie, wild brainstorming, and inspire subsequent events and actions.

NOW has always been a grassroots organization that relies heavily on its almost completely autonomous local offices. Those offices, like NOW-NYC, are offices of local activists. As a member of NOW (and by extension this group), our role is to identify issues confronting feminism locally, plan how to solve them, and execute the plan. Repeat. We are meant to be our own activists. And we are meant to be creative!

Our general mission will always stay dynamic--it will change with you. But as these informal socials and the formal meetings that follow them proceed, we will develop a specific mission and set of strategies, which we will update all the time. We'll also always keep you informed of official NOW and NOW-NYC news and events. We encourage all of you to join offical NOW-NYC committees.

We can do a lot together. So keep your ear to the ground, sisters!
