Eye tracking a.k.a. gaze interaction is a lesser known type of natural user interface that is on the verge of going mainstream. While known to some for user research and analysis, Tobii Eye Tracking (the industry leader) has enabled more than 10,000 people with disabilities to communicate and control their computers with their eyes via “gaze interaction”.

In the coming year, gaze interaction will be available to consumers to improve everyday computer interaction and add new dimensions to how they relate to content and applications.

Barbara Barclay, General Manager, Tobii Technology North America will provide a road map to the future of global eye tracking and gaze interaction over the coming 1-2 years, including examples of best practices in gaze interaction and a sneak peek into the forthcoming consumer eye tracking peripheral announced at CES in January 2013.

This presentation will educate and inspire developers and usability professionals who are looking for ways to plan for the dramatic changes eye tracking will bring to everyday human/computer interaction.

Barbara Barclay
General Manager, Tobii Technology North America

Barbara Barclay joined Tobii Technology in 2009 as General Manager, North America. With Tobii, Barbara has worked closely with clients, such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, eBay, Amazon and P&G as well as GSI Commerce and User Centric and gathered an in-depth understanding of how eye tracking can be used widely and effectively in website design, software development and user experience testing.

Prior to her role at Tobii, Barbara held many leadership positions in the world’s leading marketing information and advertising services businesses in both the United States to Europe. She has served as a vice president of marketing for LexisNexis, head of Global Services for comScore, and general manager for ACNielsen in the UK. Barbara has overseen development of numerous software applications both online and off. With 15 years of professional marketing and business experience serving a variety of industries, Barbara brings deep insight into the challenges facing today’s businesses and offers a unique perspective on what Tobii can do in order to improve our products and services to meet today’s customer needs.

Barbara earned her MBA in Marketing from Kelly School of Business at Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in German and Economics at Vanderbilt University.
