Lincoln—the movie

Details

Hi all,

If you are thinking of joining us, you need to buy tx in advance at: http://www.fandango.com/ or show up an hour early to purchase, as it will sell out.

Thought the theme/premise of this movie to be just up our alley. Would love to see it with some of you. Then, we can go to a nearby restaurant for a snack or dinner. If you are taking Bart, get off at Civic Center Station, walk to the other side of City Hall and either take the Van Ness bus, or walk to the theater (should be about a 15-20mn walk).

The movie starts at 4pm, so maybe we could meet at 3:45. It's a weekend, and the film is still new, so it may be a good idea to get there early or book your tickets in advance. I'll give out my cell phone # to those of you who respond.

Synopsis:

In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.

—An amazing film from Steven Spielberg featuring one of the year's best performances, with Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, working every possible angle to pass the 13th Amendment in the waning days of the Civil War. It feels like history come to life. Wonderful. -- M. LaSalle, SF Chronicle
