My name is Dana Savoie and I am a local coordinator in the Portland area for an organization called CCI (Center for Cultural Interchange)that finds host families for exchange students all over the world. I am reaching out to you very specifically because I have a Student from India who is very passionate about gardening. He would love to continue with this interest while he studies in the USA. Thus, the reason for my email to you. I was hoping that you could share his information with your friends & families that also love gardening.
This student is extremely well rounded and I truly believe he would be an asset to any family that hosts him. He also enjoys music and playing the drums and would love the chance to volunteer somehow while on his exchange. As is with many Indians, he is also a Vegetarian.
The basics that host families are to provide are meals and a place to stay. Students have their own spending money to cover ALL personal expenses. Host families come in all shapes and sizes from single people to empty-nesters, in addition to the traditional nuclear family. They are not compensated for hosting however, they are eligible for a $50 tax deduction for each month they host a student.
Please contact me directly if you have any interest in this and I can explain in detail. I can also tell you about my personal exchange experience as it continues to be one of the most profound things that I have ever done. There are, additionally, about 100 other students needing to be placed that are equally as unique and deserving.
Thank you in advance for your help!
