New Glarus, WI 53574In the heart of Green Country lies Little Switzerland- New Glarus State Park, Wisconsin
New Glarus Woods is a 431-acre state park offering camping, hiking, picnicking and snowshoeing. The park also offers direct access to The Sugar River State Trail, a 23-mile, 265-acre, State Trail surfaced with compressed limestone screenings, for bicycling, hiking, snowmobiling and, in some areas, hunting. Take advantage of the many opportunities for recreation or relaxation in the area. This weekend will be jammed pack with stuff to do:
*Come and explore Cave of the Mounds
in Blue Mounds. The most beautiful cave in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest. A guided tour of the Cave takes you past a varied collection of colorful stalactites, stalagmites, columns and other formations. The main cavern began forming over a million years ago as acidic water dissolved the limestone bedrock far below the surface.
*Old Fashioned Maxwell Street Days
in New Glarus. Bargain hunters won't want to miss this event! Downtown shops will fill the sidewalks with a wide range of merchandise at special prices. Garage sales throughout the community will offer treasures needing a new home.
*Monticello's Yearly Community Celebration. Homecoming Festival
in Monticello. One lake to fish;two trails to hike or bike; three cheese factories offering tastes of award winning Muenster, Brick, and Emmentaler; and four seasons of floral splendor at Montesian Gardens. Live music, homemade pie, fireworks, and much more.www.caveofthemounds.com www.swisstown.com www.monticello-wi.comTrip Description:
