I didn't have a chance to reply to the draft you sent out for review.  I had a couple of changes and have made them to the posted meetup.

Announcing a new Meetup for NW Burbs Camping and Adventure Meetup Group!

When: Friday, October 22,[masked]:00 PM

Price: $27.00 per person

Where: White Pines Forest State Park
Mt. Morris
Mount Morris, IL 61054

What better way to close out the camping season than a trip to White Pines Forest State Park. Located about 90 minutes from Chicago, this beautiful park is nestled off the beaten path which makes it such a gem to visit. I don't know of any other parks where you have to ford creeks with your "car" just to get to your campsite! Maybe it is the beauty of this area that made Chief Blackhawk and his Indian tribe once settle here.

We'll take a beautiful hike through the western section of the park on Saturday morning. After our hike we'll launch our canoes and begin a 12 mile adventure on the Rock River. Have a camera ready because we may see a Bald Eagle among other wildlife along the way.

On Sunday we'll hike the scenic eastern section of the park. After our hike, there is a paddle boat brunch cruise on the Rock River. This is optional and those who wish to attend need to RSVP separately. Those not going on the paddle boat are free to continue exploring the park on their own.

You don't want to miss this action packed weekend of adventure. But please remember, this is late October and the evenings can get pretty chilly (as well as daytime). Ensure you have a warm sleeping bag and dress accordingly. Ranger Russ told me that after we leave on Sunday he's shutting off the water to the shower house for the season!

NOTE: Group campgrounds (adult) are "NOT" available at this park. YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN CAMPSITE RESERVATION. Go to to book your reservation. Campsites 8 thru 12 are close to each other. I'm in site #8 Cedar Ridge.

The event fee only covers your canoe rental. You are responsible for your own food and beverages.
Please try to carpool with others and indicate on your RSVP if you signed up for the cruise.

SUMMARY: Each hike will begin at 8:45a.m. and end by 10:30a.m. (we need to check-in with the canoe outfitter and paddle boat at 11:00a.m.)
The trails are easy to moderate and each hike is approximately 3 miles.

The canoe trip is expected to last 4 to 5 hours. Please dress warm. We will stop at Castle Rock State Park (about 5 miles down river) for lunch. Those who have little or no canoe experience will be paired up with someone having more experience. Bring extra dry clothes (dry sack), lunch, and plenty of water, etc.

REMEMBER: The Paddle Boat Buffet Cruise requires a separate RSVP.

*** The canoe event covers the southern section of the river "Oregon to Grand Detour" and the paddle boat cruise covers the northern section of the river "Oregon to Byron".
