IAWTV NYC Webseries Writers Group (Feb 2012)

Hi there Webseries Writers, Creators, Actors, and Others,

We are so very excited to continue the start of an energetic and inspiring 2012!

Basically, they take the form of table reads of 10 pages of web episodes and notes given afterwards in a group format. The mission is to: nurture and develop the Writing of web series, by allowing writers to hear their words read from different actors with different voices while receiving constructive feedback. We’d like to keep it casual and fun and will limit attendance to just the writers and actors and a few observer spots, depending upon response.

Following are the format and submission requirements: Workflow

Each writer will bring in 12 copies of his/her material for a cold read performed by the actors. Each individual session will start with the Writer "casting" the roles of his/her episode with the actors in the session, any direction notes will be told to the actors here. The script will then be cold read and performed by the actors, while all the writers observe and write notes on the printed material. After the reading, the group will give constructive notes as they see fit. Upon completion of the notes session, all printed material will be given back to the writer and the next session will begin. Note: Participants involved with the submitted material (attached as an actor or producer, etc.) cannot read on their own scripts. Only registered actors from the session may be used for the readers.

If you are a Writer with material to be read please reply with... (6 total slots) - Writing Partners are ok. Your confirmation that you will be attending as a writer The name (can be tentative "Writer X's Webseries") of your project Include an approx page count with your submission and a male/female character count. As we are a Web TV academy - Material is HIGHLY HIGHLY encouraged to be an episode of a scripted Web Series (Drama, Comedy, Sketch, etc) limited to 10 pages. If episodes are short, submitting multiple episodes is acceptable as long as total page count is no more than 10. (This limitation is to ensure that the sessions do not run long) As slots are limited, please respond ASAP. Slots will be filled on a first response/first serve basis.

If you wish to participate, please email and cc Annunziata ([masked]) and Sibley ([masked]) and feel free to send questions.

*** PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not bring guests unless they are confirmed RSVPs ***

If you are a writer who has previously workshopped material in the Group and just don't have anything to share this time, we'd love to have your input as an observer. Also, if you are an out-of-town IAWTV member or web series writer certain to be in the vicinity on that date, let us know when you submit and we’ll try and accommodate your limited schedule. Additionally, we are open to inviting a few prospective IAWTV members’ participation.

Please let us know if:

You're a writer - the name of your piece, the number of male/female characters in the piece you are bringing

You're an actor

You are a creator or observer who is willing to provide feedback Please RSVP to both me ([masked], and Sibley Law ([masked]), also copied on this email).

We so very much look forward to seeing you next week. If you can't make the actual meeting time, meet us for the wrap-up at the after-party (no RSVP required) - it's a great time to continue the discussion about the presented works and to network with other web creators.

Nunzi and Sib have put together a cogent, respectful, and congenial monthly group that encourages out-of-the-box writing. Also, each gathering benefits from the generosity of its host (always a company dedicated to digital and web-based entertainment). Many of these hosts provide not only a space to meet, but also significant education and information about working in this cutting-edge profession. And then there are the sharp-as-a-tack (Victor are you listening?) young members who have all things digital imprinted in their dna, and are ready and eager to share it.

As I said in a couple of emails, enjoyed meeting "The Gang" [...Piranha Bros...], looking forward to my evolution beginning to accelerate - - and also contributing in return
