Designing Good Voice User Experiences for Alexa
Details
For our next meetup, we'll be talking about how to design good voice user experiences and interfaces for Alexa.
We will be meeting at betaworks, an internet startup studio based in New York that has graciously offered to host us in their office.
We will be hearing from Noelle LaCharite, developer evangelist for the Alexa Skills Kit, who will be guiding us through some ways Amazon thinks about designing good user experiences for Alexa; Chris Maury, founder of Conversant Labs, who will be speaking about the design process for building building high quality apps and his experience designing conversational apps for the blind, as well as demoing a web app that facilitates the design and collection of user utterances through user testing; and Tim McElreath, senior technical architect, mobile and emerging platforms at Scripps Networks Interactive, who will be talking about how the Food Network is approaching different voice-enabled platforms and their work around user testing, utterance collection, intention design, and real time engagement.
After the talks, there will be an opportunity to demo any skills you have been developing or have published to other users, and to do user testing. If you are interested in doing that, please bring your Alexa device to the meetup. Our speakers will also be available to provide guidance on skill design and UX and how to approach user testing.
