Come to check out what cool stuff you can do with data science using python.

It is NYC Data Science Academy's student demo day. John Downs' Python class was offered in May-June and several of the students did projects using the tools they learned in class. This is their opportunity to present their work.

Python Class:

Joel Take a financial data set, perform sentiment analysis, and visualizing it.

Jessica

Use runway image data from Style.com, to process pixels from the images, and test for relationships between them to predict which pixels have significance to the viewer (e.g. faces, garments, etc).

Sasha

A "people you may know" application for my company's fundraisers to figure out connections and lead to introductions to major donors.

Ke-Wei

Examine NYC restaurant Dept. of Health ratings data to determine empirical distribution of ratings and measure central tendency across boroughs, zip codes and cuisines.

Using the world bank data set on remittance transfers between 2011-2014 to look at financial packages sent from several countries to Colombia, Brazil and Mexico to compare the cost of sending these different packages to each of these countries.
