what do you love about Video games that has made you join this Meetup?

I love the idea of finding a female companion to play with. I grew up with a single female friend to play with and it frustrated me. I was alone, bullied, and ridiculed for my obsession with gaming and it kept me segregated from other girls who were into boys, soap operas, partying, and whatever else. I have always wanted to have a girlfriends I could relate to. I never had an older sibling and being the oldest I had to look out for myself. To this day, i believe the child in me still seeks friends that I can related to, that I can be myself around without any bias. As I progress in my attempt to grow this community, I meet new people who share my dream. I hope that this community grows stronger and becomes a sanctuary for females young and old to simply find others like them, to hang out, go drinking, have LAN parties with, or intellectual conversations with.

What do you hope to see in the gaming industry that caters women?

I want to see more female characters, more female protagonist that empower women, more female game developers creating games, more female CEO of gaming companies to inspire the female youth that they too can have those dreams and accomplish them. I want the glass ceiling destroyed and the ability to speak my mind without being ridiculed because I'm a female. I want women gamers to express their creativity in programming, art, story design. I want to see a gaming company with an entire female board of directors/ or founding staff. I want to see what opportunities, ideas, creations, and games can be made with females at the lead.
