Building security requires that everyone supply a first and last name. We even sent out an email restating this policy and that anyone who had registered with only one name would have to be removed from the list. Google gives us this space for free and this is all that they ask of us.
In your Meetup account under the name field you must supply a first and last name. Look at the waiting list and the message above this, and you will see that your name supplied is only Younis.
Im guessing the form that comes up when you click to register for an event is meaningless because apparently your account has to have your full name too (so why include the extra step or why not use that?).
Because that is the way that Meetup designed their application. You will have to ask their staff why they decided to do it this way. The RSVP list only lists the registered name and is what we have to use to generate our attendance list. That is why we emphasize in our meeting description that you mus be registered on Meetup with your first and last name.
Meetup doesn't require you to create an account with a structured name. If the venue requires a structured name, then you have to edit it @ http://www.meetup.com/account/
. Meetup has no control over venues that host events.
Firstly, thanks for marking me going. I will attend. The question I have is do I need to meet up with the group, or I can go in and sit anywhere I want LOL
As long as you arrive around the start time you can just show your ID at the front desk, take the elevator up, sign the NDA at the desk outside the room, and go on in and sit down on your own. That's how it's always worked for me at this location. No need to wait for a group to assemble and everyone all goes up at once, if that's what you are thinking.
Thanks. Lance. Another two quick questions (I am a student, and my first time attending Google IO): (1) how long is the event, and (2) do they provide food (snacks, drinks, sandwiches) or do I have to bring my own LOL. I always think they will provide food anyway - just in case.
um, I think it's just pot-luck, I'm bringing a fruit salad
traditionally, the food provided has been sandwiches, salad, chips and dip, and soda/water. I assume this practice will continue!
