Satsanga, Satsangam, Satsang (Sanskrit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanskrit) सत्सङ्ग sat = true, sanga = company) in Indian philosophy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_philosophy) means (1) the company of the "highest truth," (2) the company of a guru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru), or (3) company with an assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satsang#cite_note-1) This typically involves listening to or reading scriptures, reflecting on, discussing and assimilating their meaning, meditating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meditation) on the source of these words, and bringing their meaning into one’s daily life.

Satsang is a group meditation followed by devotional chanting and an informal talk on the practical philosophy of Yoga and Vedanta. The length of the satsang is usually around 90 minutes. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before start. Kirtan (chanting) books are provided to help you follow and participate in the kirtan. The program is free and open to all. First time participants welcome.
The idea of satsangam was first spread by ancient Rishis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rishi) such as Vedavyasa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedavyasa) and Valmiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valmiki) who explained its value in numerous ways.

Modern science is catching up with ancient wisdom in recognizing that singing and chanting gave deep physcial and psychological benefits.
Guidelines for attendance at satsang:
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time. Nobody will be admitted during the silent meditation period (the first 30 minutes) but you will be able to join once the chanting has started. Chant books are provided to help you to follow and participate in the Kirtan.
