Abstract:

Stan (mc-stan.org (http://mc-stan.org/)) turns 3 this month. I'll give a brief overview of the language and software, some of our history, and what's on the horizon.

Stan is a statistical modeling language and a collection of inference algorithms written in C++. There are interfaces to many popular computing frameworks including the command line, R, Python, Julia, Matlab, and Stata.

Speaker Bio:

Daniel Lee is a statistical researcher at Columbia University. He's worked with Andrew Gelman for the past 6 years on a number of applied projects and Stan. He has a BS (Math with CS) from MIT and a CASM (Part III, stats) from Cambridge.
