Getting started with OCaml

Getting started with OCaml

Details

It may be difficult for a beginner to find and install the libraries he or she needs to do their projects in OCaml, as well as to find resources to learn all the features of the Language. We will spend the first half of this meetup getting the compiler and most important libraries installed, configuring emacs, etc. With that boring (but necessary) part out of the way, we'll have some fun building an IRC client.

This is a hands-on meetup. Wifi access will be available, and you should bring a laptop. At this time, we need everyone to have a Unix or Mac OS X machine to work on (sorry but none of the organizers are familiar enough with Windows; if there is demand for that, we can cover Windows installations later). If you only have a Windows laptop, you can simply use VirtualBox to create a Unix VM of your choice.
