After stepping off the train platform we'll begin our photo walk south along So. Astor St., & then curve around to 50 So. Buckout St.
Here we'll find an historic three-story brick building known as the Trent Building or historically the Cosmopolitan Building. Designed by renowned architect Stanford White in 1895–1896, it originally served as the headquarters for Cosmopolitan Magazine.Following, we'll walk through a waterfront residential complex south to W. Clinton St. where we'll turn left & had up for a street-side view of the Armour-Stiner Octagon House. This house was built in 1860 by financier Paul J. Armour. In the 1870's tea importer, Joseph Stiner, added the dome & enlarged the house after purchasing it.
After capturing a few street-side photos here, we'll head up to the famous Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA). This Aqueduct which begins up in the town of Croton, carried NYC's water supply for many years starting in the 1800's into the 1950's.
A little down the road we'll leave the Aqueduct trail when we arrive at Main St. in Irvington with it's many shops & great views of the Hudson River, especially when looking West, down Main St.
After we procede to the bottom of the hill we'll be back by the train station. At this intersection of Main St. & So. Astor St is the Lord & Burnham Building. Built in 1881 as Lord's Horticultural Works, it was repurposed in the late 1990s into the "Burnham Building," now hosting residential units and the Irvington Public Library.
Here we'll cross over the Metro North tracks & lastly head down to what I feel is Irvington's gem: Scenic Hudson Park. I've spent many days here, including snowy ones, photographing the River, the sky, & the distant glimpse of the NYC skyline.
This walk will be limited in attendance, but don't worry if you miss it. I will gladly meet photographers soon again who would like to come up to Irvington NY & do the photo walk on another date.

The 2026 NYC Dance Parade
Chipotle, 504 6th avenue, New York, NY, USDance Parade returns to the streets Saturday May 16, 2026 and will celebrate the 20th Annual Parade and Festival with 10,000 dancers featuring over 100 unique styles of dance. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony kicks off the event at Noon at 17th Street and Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas)”
https://danceparade.org/Meet at 11:45 am at 13th Street and 6th Avenue in front of the Chipotle storefront on the corner.
We photographed this parade last year as a Meetup and had a fun afternoon. I invite you to join me once again in enjoying this popular NYC parade.
Once we are assembled we’ll take up spots where we get a good view of the parade as it begins to pass by. Then we can walk the sidewalks following the parade as it makes it’s way down 6th Avenue and across West 8th Street to Tomkins Square Park in the East Village, continuing to make fun captures of the participants as we go.
We will try to stay together as a group as much as possible but the streets will be crowded and if any folks do lose the group along the way we can regroup on the corner of Tomkins Square Park at Avenue A and East 10th Street as the parade and we arrive in that area.
The participants gather in Tomkins Square Park and many perform on stages set up for the event. This provides further photographic opportunities.
As always any camera even cell phones are welcome but I recommend telephoto lenses to get in close for portraits and a wide-angle lens for group shots. We will be moving too fast for any tripod use.
This is a very colorful and fun parade with many opportunities for great candid photos. Wear good comfortable walking shoes as it’s a fairly long route.
After the parade many of us will be hungry and although the area will be busy, if you wish to join us, with luck we can find one of the many restaurants in the area that can accommodate us.
Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! The “MyMTA” app is highly recommended on weekends.
- Charge your batteries and format your memory cards. Check that both are in your cameras.
- Get your gear ready. Make sure your lenses are clean. Pack your batteries, memory cards, camera, and whatever else you need. (Water is always a good idea!)
Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page. Cellular phone numbers are private and will not be provided. If you have questions, please leave them in the comments below BEFORE the event begins. It is difficult to monitor the phone after we start shooting.
