Light Painting Night Shoot at Roosevelt Island

Let’s have some fun with a little night photography

Take the F train to Roosevelt Island.

The meetup point is across the street from the train station by the water. We can walk along the island a little bit to shoot the Queensboro Bridge and cityscape.  The sunset is scheduled approximately 7:28pm.  Then we could go under the bridge to paint light.

Tripods are highly recommended. Bring flashlights, glowsticks or any bright light for the light painting. Dress appropiately for the weather.  It will be colder by the water.  Charge your batteries and format your memory cards.

For food and bathrooms, nearby Starbucks and restaurants are open until 10pm, some until 11pm.

If you have any questions, send me an email or a text message before the day of the event. Please make sure you identify yourself in your message so I know who you are. Thank you!

I am happy that everyone had a great time last night. Now that you have an idea of how light painting works, practice! If you are home one evening and have nothing to do, turn off all of your lights, close your curtains, take out your camera and tripod, get a strong flashlight and have at it!! For some inspiration, I found a few links to some great examples of light painting. These will also be posted on the message board:

Nikhil: sorry for the late reply, I was underground on a train. Glow sticks can be purchased at a party store or at Home Depot. Hope you were able to get some.

Looking forward to this evening. Let's all try to have variety at this event and show off your creativity. For those who are new to Light Painting, I will do my best to show you how to capture long exposures.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
