Brooklyn Yarn Crawl & Oktoberfest

The NYC Yarn Crawl runs from October 6th-October 8th. We are going to start of the NYC Yarn Crawl weekend by focusing on the Brooklyn shops and then end the crawl with Oktoberfest. Each store that is participating in the yarn crawl is involved in the NYC Yarn Crawl Raffle (for amazing baskets filled with goodies). Alexis, PnP member, scored one last year. Each store also participates in the Scavenger Hunt and the more yarn shops you get to over the weekend the more chances you have of winning some great prizes. Each shop usually has a few store promotions also. See the below list for Brooklyn stores, times we plan to be there and promotions (will update as I hear more):

1:00pm (Take the F/G train to Bergen Street stop)

La Casita Yarn Shop 253 Smith St., Brooklyn, NYC 11231 (T:[masked])

2:00pm (Walk to...)

Brooklyn General 128 Union street, Brooklyn, NY11231 (T:[masked])

During the weekend of the crawl, Brooklyn General will be offering 10% off, storewide, and the store will help promote infant health by offering the following:

If you bring in and donate a hand knit OR sewn forest animal you will get 20% off.  Animals will be donated to the pediatric floor at SUNY Downstate Long Island College Hospital.  If animals intimidate, you can knit a baby hat and Brooklyn General will donate it to the NICU at the same hospital.

3:30pm (Take the F/G train to the 15th Street Prospect Park West stop)

Argyle 288 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215 (T:[masked])

Lovely, new, and well stocked yarn store with lots of needles and notions to choose from. Argyle will be offering 10% off during the yarn crawl.

(Optional Stop 4:30pm) Kings County Fiber Arts Festival, Old Stone House, 5th Ave & 4th St, Brooklyn, NY

Over 25 vendors of roving, yarn, accessories and more at the first Kings County Fiber Arts Festival. This shindig runs all day on Saturday.

5:00pm (Walk or take the F/G train to 4th & 9th Street)

Oktoberfest at Amy's apartment 290 8th Street, Brooklyn NY 11215 (T:[masked])

Bring your craft and new yarn purchases along to enjoy with some beer and the usual Oktoberfest eats (sausage, pretzels, potato salad) and some tasty desserts!

*Feel free to join or hit and run at any part of the trip. Please let me know if you are interested in a bonus store at the beginning of the crawl and we will meet you there.

12:30 (Take the F/G train to Bergen Street stop or the A/C/G to Hoyt-Schmerhorn stop)

Knit-A-Way 398 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217 (T:[masked])

Although Knit-A-Way is not officially part of the NYC Yarn Crawl, the shop offers lots of yarn and notions to choose from and has October sales.

Amy, thank YOU for such a great job organizing as always and for having us all over for the wonderful Octoberfest at your new digs! Over-the-top great food and beer tasting! And, a wonderful opportunity to enjoy each others company in a smaller, quieter, more relaxed environment (not after work!).Thanks so much for all your considerable effort, and generous hospitality. See you Wed.
