So a few weeks ago I signed up for this hackathon because it sounded interesting:
It was Sept 24, and I was looking forward to attending. So what's issue now? Well when I signed up the event was scheduled for this coming weekend, Oct. 13-14. Note some media coverage:
Now the eventbrite page says the even begins Nov 10. I can't find any evidence that the event hosts notified attendees of a date change. I didn't find out until I returned to their sign up email today to get further details so I could plan my weekend at the event.
So these people seem to have taken my sign up fee and changed the date of the event and not bothered to contact me? To further the matter, I tried contacting them today via eventbrite and no one has gotten back to me.
Anyone else sign up for this event and receive the same treatment? Different treatment?
Also, this seems not just irresponsible, but also unethical. What if I made my plans in my calendar based on the original event info and arrived to hack this weekend? And how am I supposed to know what's going on and trust their planning if they are changing the date without notifying guests they've already taken money from?
Also I recall seeing a few dozen guests signed up, that's a lot of people to pull the rug out from under.
