DESCRIPTION:

Please come join us for a hike at the south portion of the Palisades Interstate Park, New Jersey, located just across the river from New York City. This is a very scenic hike with fantastic panoramic views from above the cliffs and along the shore of the Hudson River. The trail is mostly flat. You’ll see many nice lookout viewpoints, the George Washington Bridge, picnic area, a boat basin with many beautiful boats. For those of you who have not been to hiking before. This is a good chance to break in. This hike is suitable for beginners. You'll get a chance to learn some basic fundamentals about hiking, learn something about the terrain, the woods, etc.

Starting from Fort Lee Historic Park, hike north on the Long Path (Aqua Trail) along the sidewalk on Hudson Terrace, then up the steel steps beyond the George Washington Bridge and into the woods. Follow the Long Path north, exploring some of the unmarked but well-defined side trails overlooking the Bridge. Continue on Aqua trail to north of Allison Park to St. Peter’s College, then turn right at Englewood Cliff Entrance then hike south along the shore at Boat Basin to Ross Dock Picnic Area, continue on the white-blazed Shore Trail south beneath the Bridge, passing Hazard’s Dock, for another 0.5 mi., where it will turn uphill to the southern park entrance, back on Hudson Terrace, turn north on the multi-use path and return to the starting point.
