ok, now that that's done...
NYCMB is for anyone that shares a passion for mountain biking. We gather to share experiences, explore all the wonderful bike trails in our area that nature has to offer and of course, make new friends. You'll find that we're a friendly group and happy to welcome new members.
We try to ride on weekends at least once a month in winter and more often in spring, summer and fall. We ride mostly in CT, Westchester, New Jersey and Long Island trying to stay within 1 hour of Manhattan and we try to use public transportation to get to the trails as often as possible.
We ride through woods on fairly rugged terrain so a true "fat tire" mountain bike, preferably with front suspension, is required. A Hybrid bike will not be enough for most of the places we ride.
To join us on a ride you'll need a helmet and you're bike should be in good working order.
You should also have a replacement tube, and a bike repair kit with tools in case you need to do a little trail side maintenance or fix a flat tire. If you don't have these you can still come on the ride, but you'll be relying on the good graces of others in the group to help you get on your way if you run into trouble.
Please review the Message Board threads for additional helpful info about riding with the group.

There is no charge or fee to join the group or come out on a ride. Just come out and have fun with us. If you get a ride to the trail with someone, its a good idea to give them $10 bucks or so for gas - then they'll be much more likely to offer you a ride another time.
