The last safari which took place at Northern end of Central Park, at the very end of the safari there was three of us left. We were the last members of the safari group that started out. We were tired and hungry but found the fable Central Park waterfall. It was not a myth of legends as we saw it with our own eyes and it was impressive. But all three of us did not carry the gear to take advantage to shoot it so which shot the waterfall the best we could do.

So there is going to be another Central Park walk again. But this time the second stop on our walk will be waterfall.

For the waterfall I recommend that you bring a tripod, cable release and ND filters. Only if you are interest in HDR or slow shutter speed photographs and still having tack sharp photographs.

We start the this walk at Fredrick Douglas Circle located at the corner of 110 West Street and Central Park West. It is the northern tip of Central Park. We will start be visiting a hill and pass a pond with rocks. From there we walk onto the waterfall and spend so time. From the waterfall, we will walk to the Conservatory Garden and bathroom breaks too for those who need it. All the Conservatory Garden’s fountains are working. After the Conservatory Garden will walk around Harlem Meer and then back to at Fredrick Douglas Circle to pick up the train.

Also one of the statues in the Conservatory Garden has a bird bath so it is possible to get photos of some fast moving sparrows.

The meeting point will be in front of the main entrance of the Time Warner Building, “the outside not inside” at Columbus Circle starting from starting at 10:30 AM. Not the corner of Broadway of 60th Street. The main entrance is the curve street area facing Columbus Circle with post sticking out of the sidewalk and you can sit on them. I can be found between 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM sitting on one of them.

At 11:00 AM, we will take the local B or D train uptown all the way to the subway station, Cathedral Parkway at 110 Street. The entrance to the park will be right in front of us.

If you wish you can meet us at Fredrick Douglas Circle but please let me know. I cannot give you a time when we will get there as the subways can be screw up on the weekend.

Notes:

June 7 2011: I dropped the limited of number of people can attend.

Also if the group is to large the day when we do this meetup I might group into two smaller groups to visit the waterfall. This will give everyone the chance to find a prime shooting spot, shoot photos and not feel rushed. If everyone show up (I doubt it very much!) we will get in the way when we are shooting photographs with a very large group in a confined space where the waterfall is located. One group shoots, the other group leave to visit an area of the park to shoot. Then we will switch and the first group will shoot the same area as the second group just shot.
