NY Quantified Self Show&Tell #11 (Parsons)

  • March 9, 2011 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please come out on March 9th for another night of talks on self-tracking and monitoring where you, the members of our NY Quantified Self community, share ideas, tools and experiments. If you are self-tracking in any way -- life-logging, biometrics, mood, sleep, pain, happiness, energy, etc -- come and share your methods, results and insight.

6 -7:00 pm SOCIAL HOUR AND NETWORKING
Come early, connect with others and share your interest in QS. We'll have refreshments supplied by our host and sponsor to get us started.

7:00 - 8:30 pm QS SHOW & TELL TALKS
Presentations will start at 7pm. We save the talks for personal accounts of self-tracking and self-experimentation, rather than sales pitches. If you have testimonials/stories from users of your device or application, we welcome those. We're also interested in gadgets or tools that you've built to track something about yourself.

If you'd like to give a talk, please let us know in advance so we can discuss your topic and how much time you'll need. We keep the length of presentations to 5 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A. If you have slides to show, feel free but it's not required.

QS SPONSORS: OUR THANKS TO PARSONS THE NEW SCHOOL FOR DESIGN
Our venue for this Show&Tell is generously being provided by the School of Design Strategies department at Parsons.

QS SPONSORSHIP - WHAT IT IS
We use the sponsor money to pay for professional video recording and some decent refreshments, as well as to fund projects that help the larger QS community. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring our local chapter of Quantified Self or providing a venue for our Show&Tells, please let us know.

Very smooth and delightful evening - Steve did a wonderful job hosting, presentations were awesome, conversation was great, snacks were yummy, and the presence of NPR added some grandeur to the atmosphere.

There were many excellent speakers at this meetup. I enjoyed learning about new technologies and different perspectives on the QS movement. I also greatly enjoyed giving the closing presentation. The crowd was very friendly and receptive. Thanks, all!

Quirky, interesting...clearly early adopters in a trend that will have a mass audience.

Very interesting and highly professional, with fascinating speakers -- might have been nice to have more community-building efforts, but it still merits that 5th star. I was very impressed.

Too sales-pitch-y. I would have preferred more information about how people were tracking and using their personal data.

The presentations were great, and it was especially good to have Brooke Gladstone from NPR interviewing presenters and attendees, as well as a representative from Forbes Magazine in attendance.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
