On Tuesday March 18th, at 7:00 the Napa Valley Meditation Group will host a talk by Wes “Scoop” Nisker on the Crazy Wisdom of the Buddha. Wes is known for combining his wry sense of humor with a deep understanding of science and eastern philosophy to provide insights into human conciseness.
Wes is a Buddhist meditation teacher, author and performer. His books include the newly edited version of his national bestseller, Essential Crazy Wisdom and Buddha’s Nature, The Big Bang, The Buddha and the Baby Boom, and Crazy Wisdom Saves the World Again! He is also the founder and co-editor of the international Buddhist journal “Inquiring Mind.”
Wes has studied Buddhist meditation for over three decades and for the past 15 years has been leading his own retreats and workshops in Buddhist insight meditation and philosophy at venues internationally. He is an affiliate teacher at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California, and does regular workshops at Esalen Institute and other retreat centers.
The schedule for the meditation gathering is as follows:
- 7:00 pm Meditation sitting begins (please arrive on time)
- Sitting meditation: 30 minutes
- Short break for tea and greetings: 15 minutes
- Dharma talk and discussion lead by Wes: 45 - 60 minutes
- 8:30 pm Formal sitting ends
