Email Marketing

Are you getting the most out of your email marketing? On July 31, the folks at MyEmma.com will host the Nashville SEO Group meeting. They'll share their expert insight into email marketing best practices.

Whether you're just getting started or you're ready to take your email marketing to the next level, this is the event for you!

We'll be meeting at Emma's Bistro on the South side of downtown Nashville.

If you've never been to Emma before, GPS & Google Maps will only get you close. We'll be in the far South-East corner of the Rolling Mills Hill office complex. That's the side farthest away from downtown.

Founded in 2010, the Nashville SEO Group is a free Special Interest Group (SIG) that meets every month to discuss Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization.

Led by Ross Jones of 2theTop Web Design, the Nashville SEO Group is open to anyone interested in improving their overall web presence.

Very informative. Email marketing is still alive and a viable way for business to reach their customers. It also goes further than social media in making a closer contact. Great information and well presented. I would love to hear more from the Emma team!

At this risk of saturating perhaps the most-commented on meetup of this group every, I do it anyway.
    1. Christopher's talk was great and very generous for BOTH big picture and actionable tips, given the diversity of the audience.
    2. Taking notes makes sure we pay attention and remember stuff. I did both and could list a half-dozen actionable bits that will save me time and pain as a prepare to start an email program for a client as well as one for myself. Without looking at the notes or these comments. I'm a fan telling folks AFTER what will be available. How many presentations have you had access to that you've gone back and used? Technology and its tools are awesome but for me taking notes puts important info in long-term memory.
    3. The most sophisticated email technology, plan, automation will not work with crappy content.

Bringing some ol' school sensibility to moderne times is my story and I'm sticking to it. Thank you Emma, Christopher and Ross for a great night.

Here's a longer version of the presentation that Christopher Lester gave last night: http://myemma.com/webinars/5th-p-of-marketing-2014

Chris gave a good overview of email marketing and why business should utilize it gaining $43 return on average dollars spent. Emma apparently has the ability to assist and develop a comprehensive plan. I am interested in hearing more details about restarting and replacing our weak program with Emma.

I think this is great because you should go with a winner. However, I caution you about your expectations. My experience (which is somewhat limited) with e-mail marketing is that 'typical' or 'nothing new' products fare poorly compared to 'new' or 'interesting' products. It occurs to me that office products may fall into the 'typical' group. So the numbers my be 5 to 1 or 10 to 1 for you vs. the 43 to 1 stated. Good luck!

      1 · August 2

    • International Office P.

Right. I would not expect 4300% return as stated. Sounds much better than print/bulk mail ROI. In our case it would be more of a loyalty/branding/prospecting tool. We are local not Staples 30B+ with huge advertising spend. So, all things considered, any ROI is noticed.

I enjoyed the meetup last night. It was great meeting everyone I got to talk to. I've noticed a lot of you are commenting looking for more on how to actually put email marketing into play. I can help you guys out with that. I wrote this up for you guys ==> http://travispetelle.com/nashville-im-meetup-group/

No pitches and nothing to sell. Just thought it might help out.

It was a good meetup. I was hoping for more email marketing tips. Besides the use of white space and imagery it seems most od the class was on why email marketing is still important vs social media.

I would love to hear some opinions about Canada's new CASL law and how it might affect us.

In Australia this type of law has cut the number of 'legitimate' marketing e-mails only, to Dennis's point. Locks only serve to keep honest people honest.

      1 · July 31

    • Dennis

Well said, Mike. According to Kaspersky, 70% of email is spam. I wish Canada all the best in stopping that. As you pointed up, Mike, all that law will do is throttle honest people like Kathryn.

Well, I was looking forward to this meeting but cannot make it tonight. I will have to meet up with you guys another time. Looking forward to meeting everyone soon! :)

    July 24

    • Ross J.

Sorry for the confusion. Its not tonight. its always the last Thursday night of the month. July 31st, just like it says. I missed the word "tonight" in Leah's post.

      July 24

    • Dennis

Great! For a moment there I thought I really was "Daffy Duck".

      July 25

  • Pamela A. C.

Either I got confused (which does happen) or this meetup is next Thursday on July 31 as the actual date on the notice suggests. If next week, see you there. If tonight, hope someone took notes.

    July 24

    • Ross J.

July 31 is correct. Sorry for the confusion.

What's so valuable about Ross' and Mark's meetups in not only the information you glean from them but also what you learn from some very knowledgeable participants.

    • Ted H.

I've been absent for awhile. But I learn something new every time I'm there.
