While the kids run around and enjoy free-play, us adults can do some stretching, yoga, tai-chi, whatever :) We'll be outdoors if it's nice out (ie., 40s or above, or if it's lower temp but sunny and no wind we still may be out). Btw the outdoor part of Brookside nature center is gorgeous! They have huge logs for the kids to climb. and plenty of space for them to run around. I thought it would be nice if we do something for ourselves and our health while the kids play. It's also nice for kids to see adults doing something together, whether working or having fun, and not being so focused on them. I really value free play for the kids, and it happens so easily when adults do their own thing. I want to create community by meeting regularly so the kids can form bonds with each other as well as with the adults.
I will also be inviting seniors from the Forest Glen Senior center and those I know within my neighborhood to join. Many moms don't have their own moms nearby, and many seniors are lonely, not having their kids or grandkids nearby. Feel free to invite yourself. This will make for more socializing for everyone and a richer community. We'll all keep an eye out for each others kids.
