Mobilize our creative energy and play the Theremin
Details
Energy is the theme of this year’s Earth Day Celebration. Join Maple Ridge Artists in Residence Robi Smith and Kat Wahamaa for a workshop on Mobilizing Our Creativity. The workshop is part of a public art project, in collaboration with the CEED Centre, that they are producing for the Maple Ridge Earthday celebrations.
To illustrate the tangible human interaction with electro-magnetic energy, participants will be introduced to the Theremin. The Theremin (named after it’s inventor Leon Theremin), is one of the oldest electronic instruments, sometimes described as having a sound that mimics the “human voice crossed with a violin”. Remember the theme to Star Trek? That’s a Theremin. It is played just by the proximity of the human body to the pitch and volume antennae.
Join Robi and Kat for this fun, interactive workshop at the Maple Ridge Library - it's free!
