I have always been an outdoorswoman, environmentalist and have had many lessons in studying Mother Nature. My Gr-G-G Uncle, Goerge Washington Sears wrote a book entitled "Camping and Woodcraft" and his pen name was Nessmuk from a Native American scout who took him under his wing and taught him all about the natural world when he was a boy. Nessmuk is honored by a PA State blue marker at the Grand Canyon of PA and in the town of Wellsboro and he is depicted in a lifesize display with his canoe the Wee Lassie at the Adorondack Mountain Museum. He was one of the authors of the "Forever Wild" act which created the Adirondack National Park. His biographer named him the "Father of Earth Day". One of my proudest accomplishments was having a pond declared a Superfund Site in following in his moccosin tracks.
I am very much a naturalist and am interested in learning more about foraging (especially wild mushrooms)!!
