I am at last crawling out from under the mountain of work that fell on me, and can put some energy into putting my dream together. I plan to have 1/2 or whole day outings on the last Sunday of the month. Unless everyone thinks this sucks... I will also have some shorter after work walks during the coming weeks. I plan to run this year-round. However I could use some help. Kimberly you had a great idea I just saw. I would invite others to formally co-lead groups. If you contact me we'll figure out how to get you access. In the meantime if want to put up a note at the website on time and location for a walk you're doing please do so. What to look for now; choke-cherries, first year burdock root, various herbs, early acorns (white oak is sweeter), early apples, including pin and crab-apples, purslane (one of the few plants with omega-3 fatty acids), elderberries, cat-tail and much more. Note where you see amaranth or lambs-quarters seeding so you can harvest when ripe. Many edible flowers in your garden now too... Check out the schedule. I'll be back from my well-deserved vacation late August. Until then I am working every day. Look for a poll on best weekend day time to meet. See you in a couple of weeks, Hugh
A group to study wild foods, medicine, tracking, birding, bugging, awareness and other primitive living skills. I have been studying this for many years and have an eclectic knowledge base. I will share what I know, and look forward to learn more from the group. All are welcome whatever your knowledge. This group will be outdoors based, with themed hikes based on the group's desire. Any mode of getting around outdoors will work; hiking, boating, floating. The goal is expanding our knowledge and sharing our love of nature.
