Details
Location: Powder Canyon (city of La Habra Heights) Description/pace: Intermediate level/brisk pace. sooo we're continuing to explore this area- figuring out where the trails lead us as we go. The last 10 minutes i like to wind down & stretch if you'd like to join :) Distance: aprox. 4-5 miles (dunno yet) Time: 8:45-10:30 a.m/aprox (1 hr 45 mins- 2hrs)

Be prepared :) Includes correct hiking shoes/tennies, water, sunscreen/hat, snackies. be aware of you. Weather: If it rains we're still on-- depending on how hard it is raining/mud conditions or if trail is closed-- If you want to chance it, we'll decide when we get there. If we see the trail is closed there is parking just outside the park on the street where we can decide what we want to do. If it's just muddy, we'll probably still go in. Otherwise we can always drive 1 mile up the street to this great local neighborhood that is within these hills-- it has a nice windy paved street that few cars go on. Great view (I've walked through there a lot in the past) Just bring some water proof stuff to cover up with & some warm clothes underneath! (i wear a hat, water resistant pants & a big plastic bag type jacket :) --so if you don't mind getting wet or mud (alot?) on your shoes you'll be just fine :)! NOAA WEATHER REPORT LINK: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=La+Habra&state=CA&site=SGX&lat=33.9414&lon=-117.955 Bathrooms: outhouse in the parking lot, don't think there's any on the trails Some Directions: These directions are if your coming from Whittier Blvd./Harbor Blvd. (La Habra side of the hills) 1) Go North on Harbor Blvd up the hill (BEFORE it turns into Fullerton road) 2) You'll see a SIDE STREET/FULLERTON ROAD (church on the corner) GO LEFT ON THIS WINDY ROAD (for 1.4 miles--) 3) Dirt road entrance will be on the left side (pic. below)-- GO LEFT (go .2 miles) until you reach a gravel parking lot-- free parking..

Extra Details :) This place is really nice the more i get to know it.. it's got a different feel throughout the trails-- sometimes it feels like a jungle with a lot of green, or is vast & open on top of the hills.. some windy narrow trails up or open wide paths.. and as we get to know this place better/another day we'll hike over to the other side where Schabarum Regional Park is in La Puente-- great workout over the hill. i think it's a hidden little treasure out here :)
