Tell us a little about yourself. What are your names, where do you live, how do you earn your spending money, etc...

Cathy has a teaching degree and does elementary school teaching. Paul has technical degrees and for the past 31 years has worked at a variety of jobs in the nuclear industry. We have the obligatory big black dog. We are active at our church, have a combined 36 years in Scouting (both BSA and GSA), own an RV trailer and a canoe, and we travel the world as much as we can. We have been in 47 states and 15 countries, mostly together. Other hobbies include reading, gardening, genealogy, and cooking.

What makes you nerdy?

Both of us read science fiction, and I have been a Science Fiction Book Club member since 1977. We have a Wii and know how to use it. Paul tours battlefields and Cathy puts up with it. Paul has been to Origins (ok, back in 1980), played (badly) in the 1975 National High School Chess Championships, and has Titan Quest on his laptop. I had an email Diplomacy group that played for more than 5 years. Cathy likes mystery and seek/find computer games and Picard’s Enterprise. There are at least 40 board games in our closet. We have run at least ten murder mystery games since 1985, always with period costumes and food. Once upon a time we knew how to play bridge, and still play pinochle and other card games. My son and I create original fantasy RPG products ( Paul is also a published D&D1E author, having written for the Judge’s Guild (Inferno). Paul started DM’ing in 1976, and Cathy played for a while. We all went to the North Texas RPG Con in 2011.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

We are hoping to meet different people than we have so far in our years in Texas, with a wide variety of interests and an easy-going attitude. While we get along with geeks of all ages (heck, we have 20-something geeks at home) we do hope to get to meet a few seasoned couples, from high school parents to empty-nesters. If we’re lucky there are some card players out there, or maybe I’ll be able to restart my gaming group.

What is your availability to meet up? (AM/PM, Weekdays/Weekends)

Some weeknights, some weekends, occasional Fridays off.

We are Paul and Cathy. We live in Keller with our two adult children. After sojourns in several northern states we landed in Texas.
