  • Mar 3, 2011 · 4:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We are finally launching NetSquared Adelaide!

{ insert merrymaking sounds }

We may have waited a while, but we're finally going to get it going. We even have sponsors for drinks & nibbles! More details on this later.

For now, here's a rough agenda:

M.C.: Josh Goodwin

Speakers/Panel: Jane Durbridge (W&C) + Alison Kershaw (#Quiz4QLD Event)

4:00 – 4:15 = Welcome & intro to event

4:15 – 5:00 = Speakers / Panel : Case Studies on Using Social Media for Social Good

Find out how an organisation is using social media in their online community. And, learn how one person raised funds for the Queensland floods by using social media.

5:00 – 5:15 = Q & As

5:15 – 5:45 = Group brainstorming session (discuss future topics, group ideas, etc) / Workshop

5:45 – 6:30 = Networking

Special thanks to: Jessie Morris (Consultant, Fuller) for the help she has given so far!

    I enjoyed the meetup.
Everyone was friendly. The speakers were inspirational and interesting and their insights gave me much to think about.. I enjoyed hearing about their social media and fundraising event adventures. Fun and informative. Plus extra points for the bread, hommus and olives...I am a big fan of these things :)

I hate networking generally but I met so many interesting people who share my passion for using technology to help others it was worth all the pre-event nerves to put myself out there and jump in. It would have been good to have an extra speaker instead of the groupwork thing though as I'd rather hear about what's actually happening unless the groupwork session is more geared towards ideas relating to innovative ways to assist people by using technology.

I didn't make it for the whole thing, but I really enjoyed meeting some of the local talent post-conference.

I thought it was well organised. The presenters made their points well - and in a way that even people who don't use a lot of social media could have understood should they be attending. I met few people whom I'd have recognised if they were walking around with their online avatar picture pinned to themselves instead of their names!

Thanks Shai for organising a great event. :) Fantastic to hear from Jane & Jill from Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation - I didn't realise how many in-kind donations they had received as a result of engaging on Twitter! Also Ali Kershaw was great too - but I just thought of question now I wish I asked yesterday...

"How do you think the trust and rapport you had already established on Twitter helped you in securing donations for the #quiz4qld fundraiser?"

I also echo the sentiments of Mike Seyfang, perhaps dedicated uninterrupted networking time at the beginning and end of the event?

All speakers were particularly impressive and illustrated just how big an impact social media can have. It was great to see everyone actively networking and getting involved in the brainstorming. I think this augers well for future events like it.

Thanks, Mike! Yes, the map's wrong. I've put a not in there, but it's not obvious. Will try to reset. Will you be able to make it?

Hey, Rodney... Maybe you can still follow? There's a networking session towards the end. :-)

To get the correct address put 5000 postcode in google maps: 55 North Terrace, Adelaide 5000

Google maps shows 55 north terrace adelaide as being in kent town near Hackney rd. But the venue is at the west tce end of North Terrace (just past the morphett st bridge) - right?

Hi, Ian. I hope you do get the chance to go. We're just a couple of days away from the event now, so, hopefully, you can let us know if you can make it. :-)

as a a long time intentional social-reformer, i believe i have a duty to get more familiar with deus ex machina .. so i can hopefully confirm my intention to attend closer to the time ... this seems a noble enterprise ...
