Announcing a new Meetup for NetSquared Twin Cities!

What: Bedazzle an online course at Humphrey Institute + Online Learning with Moodle

When: July 14,[masked]:00 PM

Minnesota Council of Nonprofits
2314 University Ave, Ste 20
Saint Paul, MN 55114

This fall, the Humphrey Institute is offering a hybrid online/in-person course on Nonprofit Management and Governance. This is the first class of the new nonprofit management major offered in partnership with the Carlson School of Business. The instructors will use Moodle to facilitate the online course and will also bring the students together for four in-person sessions during the semester. Because this is the first time the Humphrey Institute is offering this class online, the instructors want to make sure that they students get to know each other and the instructors as much as possible in the online environment.

In addition to what Moodle has to offer, how can other social media tools enhance the interactivity of the online course? How can the instructors use Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, and other social media tools to supplement Moodle? Also, what examples of how nonprofits are using social media should be added to a management and governance course? At the July NetSquared meeting, you will get a quick introduction to Moodle and then Stephanie Jacobs will walk through the design of the course and ask for your help in brainstorming ideas for using other social media tools in the course.

Should time allow, we will also look at how the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana is using Moodle for their mostly-online Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from our future-librarian-and-online-learner, Nicole Garst.
