It's time for another NL-HUG meetup. This time we have two talks from practitioners who use Hadoop as a core part of their infrastructure. Wouter de Bie from Spotify kindly offered to provide a talk and Sander Kieft from Sanoma Media is sharing his experiences with their Hadoop platform as well.
Many thanks go out to Marktplaats / eBay for hosting the event and offering us drinks and snacks!
18.00 - 19.00: arrive and socialise
19:00 - 19:45: Data Infrastructure at Spotify
talk by Wouter de Bie, Team Lead Analytics Infrastructure, Spotify
In this talk we'll have a look at how Spotify's data infrastructure works, why we even have a data infrastructure and how it's used. We'll look at different components, like Hadoop and Kafka and explain how we got to where we are today, what went well and where we failed.
20:00 - 20:45: Building a self service analytical platform around Hadoop
talk by Sander Kieft, Architect, Sanoma Media
Sanoma is the largest media company in The Netherlands. We use Hadoop to power various aspects of our business. In this talk we'll look at the past, present and future of our data platform and how we scaled it to be used in other Sanoma countries, while maintaining a self service approach.
20:45 - end: socialise some more
Hope to see you all on September 26th!
