Imagine a peaceful New England village, inhabited by people who care for the Earth. Imagine that, instead of driving to an enormous supermarket, the villagers walk down to their own farm for eggs, meat, cheese, fruits and vegetables. Imagine 21st century green technology, working with nature instead of against nature. Imagine being surrounded by friends every day, while still enjoying privacy in your own home. Imagine neighbors caring for each other. Imagine children playing safely in the village square. Imagine walking the trails and fishing the streams on your own land. Imagine walking across the square in the evening for informal concerts at the community house.

If this sounds as wonderful to you as it does to us, consider joining us in creating this village in rural New England or upstate New York. We are mainstream professional people who are determined to make this vision into reality. Our village will be home to approximately 30 or more families of all races, faiths and ages. The village will sit on an organic farm of a hundred acres or more, which will be managed by a professional farmer. The farm will provide most of the food we need as well as provide the village with a modest income. Each of us will contribute time to support the farm and the community using our own particular gifts.

Many of us will have demanding professions outside the village, and many of us will telecommute from within the village. Our homes will be designed with a traditional aesthetic but using the latest green technology. They will be built for comfort and energy efficiency, as well as for beauty. The village square and the community house will be the heart of the village, where we will share occasional meals and activities. Our private outdoor space will be the courtyards of our own homes. We will organize educational programs to help others integrate farming or gardening into their lives.
