Share a Tesla Car with over 200 Tufts University Engineering Students Sept. 3rd?
Hosted by New England Tesla Motors Club
Details
My name is Joseph Cirone and I am an Electrical Engineering student, class of 2017, at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. As well as being an engineering student, I am the Director of Events of Tufts fastest growing and largest club on campus, Tufts Engineering Mentors, and is the reason why I am posting this New England Tesla Motors Club page.
The Tufts Engineering Mentorship Program is fully run and directed by Tufts engineering students who realized that there were many students at Tufts who needed mentors, and many upperclassmen who wanted to mentor, but nobody to connect these students to each other. Our Philosophy; Be Authentic. Be Socratic. Be responsive. Expect nothing in return. Clearly commit to a mentor or not. Be optimistic. Mentorship is valuable to both the mentor and mentee. Teaching what you have learned gives you a deeper level of insight and understanding than simply learning it on your own.
As well as providing mentors to Tufts Engineering students, we host various events throughout the year that help create a stronger bond for these mentors and mentees. Last year, these events included keynote speakers from Bose, Milwaukee Tools, and the founder of IdeaPaint.
Last year was our first full operating year and we can't wait to start again this year. We would like to expand our Mentorship program and involvement on the Tufts Campus and to do this we have decided to host a Welcome Back BBQ! As a group, we thought that having a real Tesla car at our Welcome Back BBQ would be a huge showstopper and encourage more students to stop by and sign up for Tufts Engineering Mentors. Last year, our first year, we had 117 new students sign up. This year, with the help of a Tesla Car, we hope to expand our mentorship program beyond last years numbers.
Our welcome back BBQ will be held on the second day of classes Wednesday, September 3 starting at 11:30 am on the Tufts Campus (specific location TBD). We will be providing free catering from a local BBQ restaurant, RedBones, and hopefully have the show stopping piece of your Tesla Car. FREE BBQ!!
On behalf of the entire Tufts Engineering Mentorship program and Tufts University I thank anybody who is willing to help us out!
Sincerely,
- Joseph Cirone
Director of Events of Tufts Engineering Mentors
