UPDATE: PLEASE TRY TO CARPOOL IF YOU CAN! Post in the comments section below if you are willing to carpool. A good place to meet is the Smith's Grocery store at Tramway and Central. Also, please update your RSVP to indicate which course you want to do so I know how many maps to bring. I will check to see if you have the space blanket, matches and whistle before starting the long course. The long course is, as the crow flies, 6 miles long and 1800 feet elevation change. Your effort may vary! Thanks!
C'mon out and try those new snowshoes you got for Christmas and if you don't have a set - rent a pair from REI (http://www.rei.com) for the day or if military, rent from KAFB. Join NMARC for a little winter navigation fun and look for some checkpoints (http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/9/1/5/event_9866901.jpeg) hidden in the woods. 2 courses, long and short, will be offered. The long course will take about 2-3 hours and the short course will be about 1-1.5 hours. There is a daily parking fee for the Forestry Service of $3 at Ellis Trailhead. We're also asking for a map donation of $5 to help recover our costs for generating the map. What you get is a map, some fresh air and if you need a little instruction, we'll provide that too.
