Double Eagle Half Century Bike Ride
Details
Meet at the Alameda Open Space parking lot. The ride heads south on the Bosque Trail for a short distance and then west along the Paseo del Norte Trail to Coors Blvd. From there, we work our way west on Eagle Ranch Rd, Paradise Blvd, and Paseo Del Norte headed out to Double Eagle Airport. After a break at the Airport, we head south on Atrisco Vista and then east and down the hill on Dennis Chavez Blvd. After crossing Coors, the road becomes Rio Bravo. At Isleta, we turn north to take an interesting route on side streets west of the river, including a stop at the “pot plant”. At Bridge Blvd, we cross the river and continue north on the Bosque Trail, with a stop at the Velvet Coffeehouse in Old Town. After the break, we return to the Bosque Trail for 8 more miles back to the starting point at Alameda Open Space. Total distance is 50 miles; there's one long climb early in the ride up Paradise Blvd and Paseo Del Norte. The ride can be shortened by turning east on Central Blvd from Atrisco Vista. Cue sheets will be provided.
